Forming loads were usually 1.0-1.5g less than a formed load for best accuracy. NEVER fire form with a light load, never. Work up your best accuracy fire forming just like you would any other load, you want the pressure up.

While the load may seem "light" all it has to do is expand (form) the case to the chamber (and expell the bullet from the barrel). Accuracy and velocity are not factors for this load. 4.3gr of W231 should do the trick. Just my $0.02. WebMar 5, 2024 · My fire forming loads were way slower than that, mid/upper 2700’s if I remember correctly from a 26” barrel. My second 6BRA barrel is 27.5” and my fully formed match loads are 2919fps from 30.4gr H4895. I think high 2700’s or low 2800’s is where you want to be for fire forming loads. No question you could shoot them in a match.

WebMar 16, 2013 · I was just wanting to see what the consensus is on fireforming loads. If you shoot your full house load that you would shoot in full formed brass. Or reduce by a few grains. Yes I am aware of the fact that light loads with slow burning powders is a bomb... I just hear two sides of the story.
