WebJul 3, 2014 · The FJR's prior to '13 have a soft/hard setting on the rear shock, which has a 708 lb. spring rate on a two-piece spring, which when on hard just compresses the top spring. The hard setting is necessary for heavier riders, yet the damping limitations will harshen the ride, and the more aggressive riders will want a rear shock upgrade. WebJan 16, 2007 · If you're upgrading the rear, consider setting the front springs for your weight if not doing a re-valve on the front. IIRC the front re-valve/re-spring ran me $300 - $400, the rear Ohlins (same as the FJR, coincidentally) ran $1000, and installation by the local independent mechanic ran $200 - $300 or about $1600 for the whole thing.
